Travel insurance claim in Patong
Getting treated is only half the job. Getting your money back afterwards is the other half, and it fails more often than it should, usually because the paperwork was thin. Help with a travel insurance claim in Patong is part of what we do, and we prepare the documents properly the first time.
Bring your policy details when you come in. If you have already been treated elsewhere and are struggling with a claim, we can often still help.
What insurers actually ask for
Almost every insurer wants the same four things:
- An itemised receipt showing each charge separately, not one total
- A medical report with the diagnosis and the treatment given
- The dates of treatment
- Proof of payment
The itemised part is where most claims stall. A receipt saying “medical treatment 4,500 baht” gets rejected. One listing consultation, IV fluids, anti-nausea injection and blood test gets paid. We issue the second kind as standard.
Reports written in English
Every report we produce is in English, with the diagnosis, findings, treatment and the doctor’s licence number and signature. Insurers handling a claim in London or Sydney can read it without translation, which removes a common source of delay.
If your insurer needs a specific form filled in, bring it or email it to us and the doctor will complete it.
Direct billing and pre-authorisation
Some policies pay the clinic directly, others expect you to pay and claim back. Most travellers in Patong end up paying and claiming, because clinic costs here are usually well below the excess-and-hassle threshold of arranging direct billing.
If your policy requires pre-authorisation before treatment, call your insurer’s emergency line from our clinic. We will speak to them and give them what they need. For anything urgent we treat you first and sort the paperwork after.
Scooter accidents and the exclusion trap
Read this before you rent a bike. A large number of travel policies exclude motorbike accidents unless you hold a valid motorcycle licence, including the correct category, and were wearing a helmet.
We see the consequences regularly. The treatment is affordable, but a serious accident needing hospital care is not, and an excluded claim leaves you paying it. We will document your injuries and treatment fully either way, but check your policy wording before you ride.
Keep everything
Insurers ask for more than you expect. Keep your receipts, the medical report, your prescription, the pharmacy receipt, your rental agreement if a vehicle was involved, any police report, and photographs of injuries where relevant. Photograph everything on your phone as backup.
If your claim gets rejected
Rejections are often about missing detail rather than the treatment itself. Common reasons are a non-itemised receipt, no diagnosis on the report, missing dates, or the insurer wanting confirmation the condition was not pre-existing.
Come back to us with the rejection letter. If the gap is something we can properly document, the doctor will supply an addendum.
Common questions about travel insurance claims in Patong
Do you bill my insurer directly?
For most policies you pay and claim back. Contact your insurer from the clinic if direct billing is available on yours.
Can I get the report after I fly home?
Yes. Message us with your name and treatment date and we can email the report and receipts.
Will you write that my condition was not pre-existing?
The doctor documents the clinical findings honestly. We cannot state something the records do not support.
How much detail will the report have?
Diagnosis, examination findings, treatment given, medicines prescribed and dates. That is normally everything an insurer requires.
Can you help with a claim from treatment elsewhere?
Sometimes. Bring what you have and we will tell you honestly whether we can add anything useful.
